Unfortunate

To the Editor:

What’s the law?

On Veterans Day while driving across the Trenton bridge, I had the unfortunate experience of a rock dinging my windshield.

The rock came from an uncovered dump truck hauling gravel.

Rather than turn around and try to follow the driver, I stopped at Portland Glass to see if they could repair it. A half hour and $70 later, it was fixed.

My question is, with all the construction going on around Mount Desert Island, aren’t contractors supposed to keep gravel loads covered?

If not, I hope some other unfortunate person doesn’t have the same experience.
