To the Editor:
The news of a plaque on the Bar Harbor Town Pier memorializing Tommy Pinkham literally made my day!
I first met Tommy many years ago when he was the harbormaster, and his presence on the pier brightened many a dark day for me. Maine, the way people used to be, pretty much sums up Tommy Pinkham, who epitomized all that is worthy of the Maine character.
Modest to a fault, slow to judge or expect others to follow lock step wherever he personally chose to walk, he was always eager to assist when help was needed. Plus, he told great stories, had a great sense of humor and never put a whole lot of stock in pretension or pecking-order status.
Tommy Pinkham was a great guy who will truly be missed by many! Not least of all me.
