To the Editor:

I am writing to urge all citizens and property owners of Bar Harbor to complete and return the recent survey that arrived in the mail. It can also be done online, which I did today, and it only took about 15 minutes, and that was because I added comments. This is designed to be a cruise ship survey, but it also includes land-based tourism. In over 50 years of living here, this is the first time I have ever been offered the opportunity to express my opinion on tourism in this way. A nice change! Thank you to the Town Council.

Letters to the Editor Policy

The Mount Desert Islander welcomes letters to the editor. Letters of 350 words, and 500 words for Viewpoint submissions, are encouraged. All letters must include the writer’s name, town of residence and a telephone number, for confirmation purposes only. Opinion pieces may be edited for slander, clarity or length. Anonymous letters, letters that serve as a thank-you, and those endorsing commercial products or establishments will not be accepted. The Islander will not publish election letters in the edition prior to that election. Letters should be sent to [email protected] and be received by Monday at 9 a.m.
