To the Editor:
As a former legislator, I am encouraging my fellow voters in Lamoine, as well as those in Bar Harbor and Mount Desert, to elect a new face as our representative in Augusta.
I have known Maurice “Joe” Marshall all his life. We both are natives of Southwest Harbor. Joe attended Pemetic Elementary and Mount Desert Island High School and returned to Southwest Harbor after attending college and living for a time in Central Ohio. Joe earned a bachelors degree in theatre and was active in the Acadia Community Theater several years ago and is currently active in the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. He served many years on the Southwest Harbor Warrant Committee, the last several terms as chairman.
Joe was the Pemetic Elemantary School drama coach for four years. He is not only a product of our area schools, but returned to his hometown and participated in town affairs and helped our students excel on stage. He will be a fierce advocate for jobs and affordable housing in our area to maintain an environment where young working families can afford to live.
Being a legislator in Augusta is no easy task, and Joe Marshall’s experience and intelligence will serve Bar Harbor, Mount Desert and Lamoine well.
Hon. Robert E. Stanwood
