To the Editor:
Governor Paul LePage would have us believe that his budget will provide better government while reducing the tax burden on all Mainers.
In fact, LePage’s record shows wasteful spending in the service of slashing programs for the most needy.
Replacing income tax with sales tax revenues will not raise sufficient funds to run the government. It appears the governor’s actual intent is in keeping with the Republican goal of eliminating social programs and regulations by “starving the beast” of government.
