May need a miracle

To the Editor:

Thank you for the Islander’s coverage of, and editorial about, the proposed oyster farm in the Goose Cove.

Our family and friends use the Bar Harbor Airport when they visit us at our cottage in Trenton. We would like to understand the rationale of the FAA in approving this project, given all the concerns about the birds the oyster farm is likely to attract and the danger these birds would pose to aircraft.

We have no wish to discover if a pilot in Maine can repeat Chesley Sullenberger’s miracle feat when he safely landed a US Airways flight on the Hudson River after multiple bird strikes caused both jet engines on flight 1549 to fail.
