Indulgent outbursts

To the Editor:

I am weary of Gov. Paul LePage’s worse than worthless “lock and load” approach to problem solving.

He sets a bad example. When he suggests Mainers take advantage of our liberal gun laws to shoot drug dealers, and then says he is not suggesting vigilantism, he is being disingenuous.

In addition, he undermines arguments for liberal interpretation of the Second Amendment and Mainers’ reputation for being fair and considered in their actions – and careful with their guns.

The governor’s self-indulgent outbursts, however attention grabbing, do nothing to solve Maine’s most serious problems. They get in the way of serious debate.
