Caring support

To the Editor:

Nurses are the backbone of a hospital. Their experience and expertise ensure that patient care is immediate and effective. They are routinely exposed to life and death situations at great risk to themselves; their efforts are literally lifesaving.

Since 1982, Mount Desert Island Hospital nurses have developed and maintained the highest standards of patient safety and experience. They now face challenges in the name of corporate efficiency to abandon that quality.

A hospital without nurses is like an ambulance without wheels.

Please support the nurses.
