Bringing Christmas joy to kids

To the Editor,

We at the Maine Seacoast Mission would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who helped with the Christmas program this year.

Without the help of so many volunteers, donors and local businesses we would not be able to run such a successful program. This holiday, the Mission provided gifts for over 1,400 children and seniors in our area. Each gift package averages 11 items, representing a lot of time and thought for each gift, from donor to wrapper.

We would like to thank the other area Christmas programs who worked with us to make sure all families requesting help were served. Many of our neighbors took tags off the gift trees in Marden’s and Renys and purchased needed items. Others knit hats, mittens and lap robes for children and seniors. Still others gave their time to wrap the gifts.

Many area businesses and churches led toy drives. We would like to thank Chipman’s Wharf, Witham Hotels, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Sigma Kappa and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, among many others too numerous to list.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make this a joyful Christmas for so many of our neighbors.
