To the Editor:
I am a resident of Center Street here in Bar Harbor. Currently, our road is being completely dug up and redone, repairs which were much needed.
Needless to say, it looks like a war zone out there. Each morning, I wake up to see a giant set of earth movers and trucks pulled neatly to the end of my lawn. My kids think it’s great!
While it’s a significant pain in the neck to have your road destroyed and rebuilt, I want to take a moment to compliment Harold MacQuinn crews for being thoroughly professional and courteous throughout this entire process. Not once have they trampled my lawn, broken my tree limbs or failed to neatly clean their work site at the end of the day.
I have been informed daily of their progress, letting me know when I would lose and regain access to my driveway. They have moved their equipment to accommodate moving my car and happily entertained my star struck six year olds with amazing, behemoth-sized equipment.
One day, they offered to help me truck my heavy grocery bags across the muddy mess they were creating as they laid the new road bed.
I’ve had many bad experiences with inconsiderate contractors in the past. But this week has been almost a pleasure. Thanks, guys, for your courteous professionalism! I can’t wait to see our new road.
