To the Editor:
It’s crazy how the right to carry concealed weapons almost anywhere without a permit is now active in Maine. Now any angry or frustrated person can pull out a gun in a heated moment and wreak havoc.
Having lost a friend to a gun death, I see this law accelerating gun violence in our state.
The Second Amendment was written in the days of muskets and single-shot handguns. It did not condone individuals stocking their own personal arsenal or foresee the proliferation of modern day automatic weapons.
Guns for hunting and sport are fine. But what kind of world do we in Maine live in if one thinks they need a semi-automatic weapon for “protection”? That’s not my world.
How can this be stopped?
