To the Editor:
Thank you to the well informed voters who supported the Bar Harbor Planning Staff, Planning Board and the Island Housing Trust in voting for Articles 3, 4 and 5 at Bar Harbor Town Meeting.
It is not unusual for a Planning Board to bear the brunt of criticism. There is always someone displeased with a decision. However, the pre-vote attack on Planning Board Chairmain Tom St. Germain was inappropriate. For those of you who do not know him, Tom is a loving husband and father of three children. He is a successful restauranteur, author of Acadia’s most popular hiking books and board member of the Bar Harbor Historical Society. When Tom speaks about hiking in Acadia, the event is standing–room only.
We would like to thank Tom St. Germain for his leadership in the path to a more welcoming community for our seasonal and year-round workforce. In addition, we are appreciative of his entrepreneurial spirit and service to Bar Harbor.
