Letter to the Editor: Select Ball on July 14

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Carolyn Ball for a seat on the Board of Selectmen in Southwest Harbor. The upcoming election for town representatives will be held by secret ballot on primary day this year, Tuesday, July 14.

Carolyn has been a professor emeritus and adjunct instructor at the University of Southern Maine, Muskie School of Public Service. More recently, she has served on the town’s Warrant Committee and has assisted the town in a successful grant application from the state’s Shore and Harbor Planning Grant program. In June of 2019, the state awarded Southwest Harbor a grant for $25,000 for the purpose of designing a plan for improvements to the Manset Town Dock and the recentlyacquired Hook property.

Carolyn’s knowledge of public policy and local government along with her past service to the town would make her an asset to the board and the town of Southwest Harbor.
