To the Editor:
In July’s local election, Carolyn Ball is running for a position on the Board of Selectmen. She has been a resident of Southwest Harbor since 1991 and a visitor to the island for many years before that. Her connections to town run deep and she has served on both the Comprehensive Plan and Warrant committees. I have personally enjoyed her workshop on “How Our Government Works” given earlier this year at the Southwest Harbor Public Library.
At the University of Southern Maine, Muskie School of Public Service, she has taught public management classes in organization development and human resources. She has also volunteered with the Mount Desert Island Historical Society and Harbor House Community Center (board member and treasurer). She is a member of the Maine Town City County Association.
Her concerns are for the future of Southwest Harbor and maintaining a healthy economy during this unsettled time. All town departments are affected by the current health crisis and competent management is especially necessary for us to weather this troubled period.
I give Carolyn Ball my endorsement for a position on the Board of Selectmen.
