To the Editor:
It is a travesty that good people like Ben Emory are actually discouraged from serving by being subjected to onerous financial disclosure requirements that are not applicable or simply ignored by employees higher up in the bureaucracy.
We know Ben and his wife, Dianna, and they are fine people who have given a great deal to the Acadia National Park both in time and money.
It is totally ridiculous that these financial disclosure requirements are applicable to unpaid positions. How can we expect good people to give their time and energy to a government that does not appreciate their contributions.
