To the Editor:
No one becomes a millionaire with Medicare. The administrative costs are less than 2 percent. Why does it cost so little to take care of the health of our elderly? There is no chairman of the board with Medicare. There are only reasonably paid workers.
Blue Cross Blue Shield’s chairman is paid over $27 million a year. United Health Care’s chairman is paid over $66 million. Aetna’s chairman is paid over $27 million.
For-profit health insurance companies (yes, for-profit) all have administrative costs of at least 12 percent.
Now is the time for Medicare for all.
