Fair and impartial

To the Editor:

I was very surprised by two letters in last week’s paper that criticized the Islander for an article in the previous week’s paper concerning the two finalists for the Mount Desert Island School District superintendent’s job.

If the information in the article was truthful and factual, which I believe it was, then the paper has done a service to the parents of all MDI students and to the taxpayers who will pay the future superintendent’s salary by providing the background of both finalists for the job.

Anyone who attended the selection committee’s meeting should have had this information beforehand so they could ask informed questions.

I think you did a fair and impartial job in your article. Keep up the good work.
