Don’t litter

To the Editor:

One of the biggest problems in Bar Harbor is the litter on the side of the roads.

When people litter, they damage the environment by trashing mountains and clogging streams.

Another reason is when you litter, not only does it damage the environment, it can kill or sicken the animals that eat it.

When we ask people not to litter, and they just do it anyway, they probably think “Where else do I throw it?” But that’s what trash cans are for.

I know that when people litter, it’s probably because they are from a different place where people just throw trash everywhere and so they think it doesn’t matter. But here in Bar Harbor, it really does matter.

That’s why we shouldn’t litter.
