Community celebration

To the Editor:

Once again, the Bar Harbor Fourth of July was an incredible day enjoyed by over 10,000 attendees.

The day began with the Run MDI Relay, followed by the “We the People” parade, the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Breakfast & Seafood Festival, the YMCA lobster races, Nonrofit Showcase & the Island Art Association Craft Fair on the ball field. It continued with the harborside concert on the town pier and ended with the fireworks display over Frenchman Bay that wowed the crowd and drew thunderous applause.

It was a great day for all.

The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the community of Bar Harbor, the parade participants, all the businesses and individuals, as well as those who wish to remain anonymous, for helping make this year’s celebration possible.

We also would like to thank our sponsors: The Bar Harbor Inn, this year’s July Fourth parade sponsor, G.F. Johnston & Associates for being the harborside concert sponsor, and the fireworks presenting sponsors, Bar Harbor Regency, Bar Harbor Whale Watch, the Harborside Hotel & Marina and Stewman’s Lobster Pound, without whom we would not be able to provide such a crowd-pleasing display.

We also would like to extend a special “thank you” to the town of Bar Harbor, the Bar Harbor Police Department, the Bar Harbor Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Bar Harbor harbormaster for helping make this Fourth of July fireworks display a safe and successful evening.
