Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor
William W. “Bill” Jenkins, Jr., 84, died Aug. 3, 2021, at Birch Bay Village, Bar Harbor. He was born on March 8, 1937, in Albany, N.Y., the son of William W. and Pearl (Hathaway) Jenkins Sr.
Bill was a graduate of Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis., in 1959. He was married to his best friend and loving wife, Julie, for 49 years. Bill worked for several years at the Henry R. Hinckley Co. as a purchasing agent and in later years as the manager of the Hinckley Ship Store.
Bill was an avid sailor who competed in myriad Bermuda races aboard Harpoon. He enjoyed cruising the coast of Maine with his first mate, Julie, and was a member of the Bass Harbor Yacht Club. Bill also enjoyed volunteering for Friends of Acadia.
Bill is survived by his children Sheila, Peter and Billy; daughter -in-law, Cheryl; grandchildren Ryan, Erin, Keenan and Avery; and two great-granddaughters, Audriana and Ella. He was predeceased by his wife, Julie, and twin brother, Don.
