BREWER — Walter Allen Hooper, 71, passed away Feb. 13, 2015, at a Bangor hospital, following a brief decline in health. Walter was born May 29, 1943, in Calais, the son of Dorothy (Poole) Duplisea. At age 4, Walter was lovingly adopted and raised by Marie (Forsythe) and Ansel Leroy Hooper of Town Hill on Mount Desert Island.
In his younger adult life, Walter became a mason and worked on many masonry projects on the island, including the Jordan Pond House. He enjoyed fixing things, going for rides and visits with his family. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Walter is survived by his three children, Walter Ansel Hooper, Jeffrey Hooper, and Marie Hooper, all of Bar Harbor, as well as five grandchildren: Chantell, Branden, Bradley, Brienna and Carissa, his first great-granddaughter, Isabell. He was also survived by a sister-in-law, Angela Duplisea, of North Carolina, as well as several nephews. Walter was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson, Landen, in April. Walter was predeceased by his parents, his birth mother, Dorothy (Poole) Duplisea, and half siblings: Muriel Lee, Eleanor (Duplisea) Hoar, George “Ray” Duplisea and David Duplisea.
