In loving memory of Tyler Douglas Gray, “Toby”
5/1/1943 – 6/14/2021
Toby “Bampy” Gray, 78 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 14, 2021, at home surrounded by the ones he loved.
Toby was born on May 1, 1943, in Bangor to Audrey and Tyler Gray. He grew up in Trenton. He graduated from high school and went straight into the service. He served in the Army for two years. Toby owned and operated his own towing business, Toby’s Towing, for 35 years. He loved being out on the road with his best friend Edgar, helping people when in need. When he wasn’t out towing cars he loved sitting in his garage and watching the traffic go by while listening to the scanner, waiting for his next call. He was truly loved by so many people. If you ever stopped in to see him, he always had a garage full of close friends and family. His family was the most important and always will be. He will truly be missed by so many people and will never be forgotten.
Toby is survived by his significant other Sue Lear, who he has lived with for 18 years, his Best Friend Edgar Elliot, his sister Sandra Dow, his kids, Tammy Gray, Toby Gray, Tonya Fowler and her significant other Mark Singletary and her two daughters Lilyana and Mariana, Heather Gray and her son Nicholas Gray, Sasha Colbeth and her husband, Brandon Colbeth, and their three children, Mason, Michael and Mia, Maya Woodward and her husband, Tobey Woodward, and their three children Ellie, Zoey and Sadie, Ariel Gray, Sue’s son Todd Lear and nieces and nephews Matt, Tina, Kim and Tammy. There are so many other people who loved him too: his ex-wife Sandy Gray, good friends Alan Gordius, John Seavey, Mike Seavey, Cliff and Judy and so many others in Southwest Harbor, along with the Southwest Harbor PD.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Annis Wellington, father, Tyler Douglas Gray, and his sister, Nyoka Gray.
