Sharon Riley died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020. Her illness was brief and she was surrounded and comforted by her family, friends and community.
Sharon was first and foremost an artist and a free spirit. She brought beauty and love to so many through her varied works of art from paintings to sculpture (remember the Statue of Liberty in the 4th of July parades?) and her famous Christmas cards. She shared her love of life and her laughter with many and will be sadly missed.
She was predeceased by her father, Roger Hensel Young; Laurence and Arthur Walton; Ned and Frank Hall; her special friend Steve Rand; and her beloved puppies Moxie and Stella.
She leaves behind, in thankfulness for the gift of her life, her mother, Lucy Witt; her very special Zoltan Farkas; Joan Walton; Patricia McGarry; Mercedes McGarry; Ted Riley; Lewis and Wendy Riley and family; Alice Hall and family; and her beloved puppy Lola who now has a forever with her friend Rick; as well as so many friends and neighbors in this community.
We wish to express special thanks to all the staff at MDI Hospital and the Mount Desert Nursing Association for their loving care of Sharon and for their support of her family.
There will be no services; however, there will be a gathering of friends and family in the early summer.
