Sarah L. (Sally) Hayward, born May 13, 1924, died at home Feb. 20, 2018. Born in Portland, Ore., she was the daughter of Edward H. and Sarah L. Smith. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter S. Hayward, whom she met in her teens while summering in Southwest Harbor.
