Ruth Corbett Jenkins, 81, born June 10, 1937, died at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth on Monday, March 25, after several months of illness. Ruth was the only daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Davis Corbett of Otter Creek Village in the town of Mount Desert.
Ruth was born in the Panama Canal Zone area, where her dad was in the submarine service of the U.S. Navy. She had three brothers, Jimmy Corbett of Bar Harbor and Arthur Corbett Jr. and Edward Corbett, both deceased. Marty Black was a son of Ruth’s who also predeceased her.
Her survivors include her husband of 41 years, Dewaine Jenkins, formerly of Northeast Harbor, now residing in Ellsworth, sons George Jenkins of Orland and Arthur Modeen of California. The couple also spent 30-plus years at home in Orland.
Ruth graduated from Mount Desert High School in Northeast Harbor in 1956.
No formal service is planned. A family ceremony will be held in the cemetery in Otter Creek in early summer. Ruth wished that her ashes be scattered on the graves of her parents in the Davis family plot in Otter Creek.
