Rosalie A. Rechholtz

Otter Creek

On June 27, 2021, Rosalie A. Rechholtz, 93 years young, passed away peacefully at home with family. Born March 29, 1928, to the late Helen and Paul Weill, Rosalie was raised in New York and summered in Otter Creek.

Rosalie’s mother’s side of the family (Davis) helped settle and establish Otter Creek. Surrounded by aunts and uncles, playing all day with cousins and childhood friends, she formed many fond memories of Otter Creek.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother Paul Weill and her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard Rechholtz. Rosalie is survived by her three children, Deborah, Richard and Robert; three grandchildren, Kristie, Alisha and Natalie; and four great-grandchildren, Avah, Royce, Brinn and Hunt. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she has met along her 93-year-long journey.

Rosalie was especially proud of her three children and loved being with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosalie was a wife, mother, friend and businesswoman.

Her many passions included knitting, cooking, genealogy and a curiosity about anything and everything. Proud of her old Yankee roots from the Mayflower to MDI, she spent many hours, days and years researching as far back in history as possible.

During the ’60s, the state of Maine, a simpler life and the beauty of MDI lured Rosalie and Dick back home to MDI and “their children are grateful they did.”

“God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.”
