Roger L. Pomroy, a devoted husband, loving father and friend to many, died Nov. 15, 2021, at his home in Seal Cove, surrounded by his loving wife, children and family. He was 83.
Born July 19, 1938, to Milton and Velma Pomroy in Seal Cove, he was a hard worker, jokester and provider to his family from the beginning to the end. He was happiest on Mount Desert Island with his wife, family, friends and church family.
He graduated from Pemetic High School and served four years in the Air Force. He worked, played and joked at The Jackson Laboratory for over 30 years. He was a great gardener and had one beer for every two rows planted.
He will be remembered for his jokes, sense of humor, wildly entertaining stories, his unfailing work ethic and his willingness to come at any time of night to help someone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alton and John; his sisters, Leola, Gaynell, Hilda, Cretia and Irene; his great-grandson, Jacob; and his best friend, James Farley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Libby) Pomroy; his daughters, Wendy and Holly; his son, David; his sons in-law, Brian and Glenn; his grandchildren, Theresa, Jessie and David; his great-grandchildren, Trevor, James, Meagan, Kingsley, Ryleigh, Andi, Talula, Ben, Trace, Xylieh and Connor; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service followed by light refreshments will be held Jan. 8, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 658 Tremont Road, Tremont.
