Belfast, formerly of FRENCHBORO
Robert Roxby, age 79, died after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis. Bob, or “Rocket” as some called him, taught biochemistry at UMaine-Orono for 20 years and chaired the microbiology department for four years. He and his wife, Susan, raised their two daughters, Meghan and Caitlin, in Old Town. Once retired, Bob moved to Frenchboro and lived for 13 years before he and his second wife, Beverly, moved to Belfast. Bob will be remembered fondly by everyone on Frenchboro for his generous participation in helping out in the community, and also for his boat, Rocket Science, clearly the fastest boat on the island. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place in the summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Susan Elliott Judd Roxby Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Maine.
