OTTER CREEK/SEAL HARBOR – Mr. Robert Speigel Jr., aka JERSEY, 50 years old, was born Nov. 17, 1966, and passed on Jan. 21, 2017. He was born and raised in Cape May, N.J., and moved to Maine in 1999. Jersey loved all that Maine had to offer, cutting wood, taught to him by his girlfriend of nearly 15 years, Cathi Austin, as well as his love of fishing, sailboating and helping friends with mechanical and home repairs.
Jersey knew many trades; he was “Jack-of-All.” He was caretaker for several homes and was called upon for many car repairs; stepdaughter Stacy Austin relied on his help with many of her own car repairs. His full-time work was commercial construction building hospitals, schools, Jackson Lab rooms, remodeling many Hannaford stores, etc.
He will be very much missed by his Maine family and friends, including his three stepchildren and five grandchildren, and family in New Jersey, mom, dad, sister, brother, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, who he kept in touch with frequently.
Thank you, Uncle Phil, for taking him with you and guiding him along the way.
Celebration will be held on Feb. 12, 2017, at the Dog and Pony Tavern in Bar Harbor beginning at 3 p.m. We hope to see you all there.
