Peter L. Young, 79, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, in Springfield, Vt., at home with his family. Peter was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Bar Harbor, the son of Morris and Doris Young. He graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1958 and from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass., in 1965. He was then commissioned and served for three years in the U.S. Army.
On June 19, 1965, he married Kathryn Stockfisch of Randolph, Vt., and they enjoyed living in Nuremberg, Germany, for two years before returning to Bar Harbor to raise their family. Peter worked for Brewer Electric before starting his own contracting and lighting business in Ellsworth, from 1970 to 1993. He then worked as a sales representative for many lighting manufacturers until he retired in 2006.
Peter enjoyed golf and traveling around the USA with Kathy in their RV before settling down in Florida, and then moving to Vermont to be near their children.
He is survived by his, wife, Kathy; sons, Rick, Steve and John; daughter, Chris; and daughters-in-law, Lisa and Channa; and one grandson, Ricky Jr. Also, his brother-in-law, Bruce Tripp, and two nieces; and his sister-in-law, Ruth Young, and two nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, David Young, and his sister, Susan Young Tripp.
No service is planned, except for a quiet family get-together in October to celebrate the lives of Peter and Susan.
