Paul A. Davis, 78, died May 20, 2022, at his home in Ellsworth after a long illness.
He was born in Bar Harbor June 28, 1943, the son of Paul L. and Virginia (Moore) Davis.
He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, Class of 1961, SMVTI, studying culinary arts, Class of 1965. He was a chef at Testa’s Restaurant in Bar Harbor and Palm Beach, Fla., for 23 years, chef at 124 Cottage St., Bar Harbor for five years then became self-employed as a carpenter until retirement.
Paul’s favorite pastime was golfing. He attended several golf tournaments in the U.S. and played many linked courses in Scotland. He loved hiking in Acadia National Park and camping with his children and grandchildren. Paul was a member of the EHS Alumni Association for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia; daughters, Amy M. Davis of Rockville, Md., and Althea Davis-Brown of Franklin; son, Matthew Davis of Montgomery, Texas; six grandchildren, Alex Davis, Katherine Wares, Alexis and Palmer Brown, Ethan and Madeline Davis; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Salsbury and husband, Dick, and Martha Murch and husband, Wayne; brother-in-law, Kenneth Linscott, and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Tracy, and husband, Hyla; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Nancy Domagala.
There will not be a service. A celebration of life is planned for July 10, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the home of Ginny and Paul, 49 Ginnie Mae Way, Ellsworth.
