Michael Harold Raynor

LAMOINE — Michael Harold Raynor, 58, of Lamoine peacefully passed away on Sept. 29, 2015. Mike was born in Mineola, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1957, the eldest son of Harold and Edith (Turner) Raynor of Berwick. He was a graduate of Marshwood High School in Eliot.

Mike worked for many years in the gourmet food section and as a well-respected barista at Rooster Brother in Ellsworth, where he developed many lasting friendships and was deeply loved.

During his life, Mike also worked at both Acadia National Park and Grand Canyon National Park and the Native Arts store in Bar Harbor. He had a deep connection to the natural world. He and his wife, Adrienne, collected native art with a deep interest in promoting young artists. Mike was also an avid photographer.

In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is survived by a daughter Alexandra of Portland; a brother Tom (Janice) of York; sisters Candace (Scott) Mason of Eliot, and Janet Sullivan of Willoughby, Ohio; along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Navajo family members in the Southwest.

Mike was a longtime supporter of Futures for Children, providing services for Native American children. Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to Futures for Children or to the Mary Dow Cancer Center in Ellsworth.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Oct. 17, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth.
