Mary Parker

OBIT-ParkerBAR HARBOR — Mary Parker, 59, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, with her family by her side.

Mary grew up in Endwell, N.Y., and graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. She met her future husband and they moved to Bar Harbor, Maine, in 1977, falling in love with the small town charm and made it their home. She worked various jobs including 17 years at First National Bank. Mary found her calling helping others through Island Connections, a job she loved, assisting elderly and disabled people with their transportation needs. Sadly, she had to leave this position when diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and then spent the past three years searching for a cure. She tried many treatments including two clinical trials, which she hoped may help others in the future.

Mary was the proud owner of the Church Bazaar Marketplace in East Machias. She loved her shop and the many friends she met through the years. One of her favorite pastimes was going to yard sales and auctions, treasure hunting for antiques.

Mary is survived by her husband of 38 years, David Parker; her children, Tara and Landon; her sister and best friend, Beth and husband Gary Parker; her brother-in-law, Perry and wife Cecilia Parker; her nieces and nephews; and her loving dogs, Meeko, Milo and Pearl. The family would like to thank all the people who helped her through her illness and special thanks to her friends and the Y B’s for their continued help to finding a cure for cancer.

A celebration of her life will be held in the fall with family and friends. If you would like to remember Mary in a special way, please donate in her memory to: Island Connections, 15 Eagle Lake Rd., Bar Harbor, ME 04609, or Peace Ridge Sanctuary, 653 Black Ridge Rd., Penobscot, ME 04476.

Know when to pay your respects.
