Mary H. Paquet, 96, died Dec. 21, 2017, at Birch Bay Village in Bar Harbor. She was born June 17, 1921, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of James Robie and Mary Louise (Vance) Hodgkins.
She attended schools in Bar Harbor, and in 1940 she married G. Liston Paquet and they were married for 46 years. She operated the nursery school at the YMCA and later owned and operated the Yarn Shop, part of Franklin Shoe Store on Main Street, in Bar Harbor. She loved to read, knit and play cards.
Mary was the oldest member of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church and the oldest living original resident of Bar Harbor.
Mary is survived by daughters, Linda Bias and husband, Robert, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Joyce McKinney and husband, John, of Plymouth, Mass., and Joanne Graham and husband, Michael of Marshfield, Mass.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Testa of Bar Harbor and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, G. Liston Paquet, and her sister, Carol Carney.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
