SOUTHWEST HARBOR and WAKEFIELD, MASS. — Martha E. DuLong, 97, died March 8, 2016, in Bar Harbor. She was born May 16, 1918, in Wakefield, Mass., the daughter of Ira and Minola (Tufts) Richardson.
Martha was an avid knitter, known for her beautiful children’s sweaters. She enjoyed golf and was always the life of the party. She was a fixture at the Quietside Muffin Company, in and behind the counter.
She is survived by her son, Dudley F. (Skip) Holden III and wife, Virginia, of Southwest Harbor; stepdaughter, Deanna DuLong of Danvers, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer DuLong of Peabody, Mass.; sister, Charlotte Butters of Gorham; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two nieces and three nephews. Martha was predeceased by her late husband, Joseph DuLong, and by her first husband, Dudley F. Holden Jr; stepsons, Robert and Richard DuLong; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Brown.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. April 2, 2016, at the Southwest Harbor Congregational Church, 29 High Road, Southwest Harbor.
