M. Thomas Seabrease



ROCKY RIDGE, MD. — Mr. M. Thomas Seabrease, 80, of Rocky Ridge, Md., passed away at home on Dec. 31, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary Jane Seabrease, his wife of 57 years.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Medford C. and Margaret L. Seabrease. He began his police career as an MP in the U.S. Army, and served in the Philadelphia, Pa. and Bangor police departments, eventually retiring as chief of police for Southwest Harbor. An avid boater, Tom also loved woodworking, as he built everything from doll beds to a houseboat. Mr. Seabrease attended the Thurmont United Methodist Church and was an active member of his Life Group.

In addition to his loving wife, Tom is survived by his daughter, Stacey Verby and husband, Russell, his daughter, Kelley Gilbertson and husband, Shane, as well as four grandchildren, James, Timothy, Madeleine and Samantha, his cousin, Margaret Jane Moore and his cousin, Jack Seabrease and wife, Sue, and many friends.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Jan. 5, at the Thurmont United Methodist Church, 13880 Long Road, Thurmont, MD 21788. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thurmont United Methodist Church.
