Leroy Edward Cousins, 72, passed away March 2, 2021, at home. He was born in Bar Harbor April 16, 1948, the son of George L. and Theresa E. (Murphy) Cousins.
Leroy was a Vietnam veteran. He was well known for his ability to match up paints and stains and would work tirelessly on various concoctions until the correct color and texture was obtained. Many of the summer homes on Mount Desert Island would seek his expertise. In later years, he also enjoyed lobster fishing. He loved to read books, fish, hunt and garden. He had a special spot, hard to get to, for digging clams and mussels.
He leaves behind a daughter, Megan Pettit, and husband, Chuck; two grandsons, Jack and Max; a brother, Walter F. Cousins, and wife, Bonnie; two sisters, Patricia H. Bickford and husband, Elliott, and Diane M. Cousins; nieces and nephews, Christopher, Eddie, Patrick, Hilary, Justin and Jesse; and a very special friend, Judy McKenney. He was predeceased by his parents.
