Leonard S. Noyes Sr., age 91, a resident of Malta Street in Augusta and a winter resident of Palmetto, Fla., died March 3, 2018, at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla., after a brief illness.
He was born in Southwest Harbor on Oct. 23, 1926, the son of John A. Noyes and Hazel J. (Doliver) Noyes.
Mr. Noyes was educated in Maine and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 30 years as a machinist by Southworth Machine Co. in Maine.
Mr. Noyes was predeceased by his parents, by a brother, Richard Noyes, and a sister, Barbara Goodwin.
Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Charlotte G. (Miller) Noyes of Augusta and Palmetto, Fla.; a daughter, Elizabeth J. Burgess and husband, Harlan, of Augusta; a son, Leonard S. Noyes Jr., and his wife, Maria, of Tremont; three grandchildren: Lynn and husband, Barrry Bolduc, of Augusta, Michelle and husband, Greg Lebeau, of Westbrook and Karen and husband, Brent Marquis, of Hampden; and nine great grandchildren.
There are no public visiting hours planned. Committal prayers and military honors will take place at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, at a later date.
