Kevin Robert Buza, 52, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020. A lifelong Mainer, he was born on Feb. 15, 1968, in Machias, the third of six children. In his youth, he attended Machias Valley Christian School, where he graduated as valedictorian of his senior class. Kevin always possessed an eye for numbers and went on to study at Pensacola Christian College, where he graduated with a degree in computer science and accounting before returning to Maine to practice in his hometown.
While living in Machias, he met and married his wife, Barbara, and soon after they moved to the Acadia region together, where they raised their family for the next 20 years. A fixture of the community, he worked as an accountant for more than two decades and became the go-to tech support for all who knew him while also running the family business with his wife and daughters.
A voracious reader and intellectually curious, Kevin loved science fiction novels and films, tinkering with computers in his spare time, and talking long into the night with family and friends. He had a not-so-secret talent for baking and cooking and was known to enjoy whipping up stacks of his signature fluffy pancakes on quiet Saturday mornings with family. He was also blessed with an extraordinary singing voice and strong musical memory and knew every line to every traditional hymn in church. Kevin was a gracious listener with an easy laugh. He cherished family game nights and whimsical stories read aloud and to his girls. Kevin was the most patient tutor, father and friend, and will be sorely missed.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara, and daughters Ashley, Nadean and Hope.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hope Buza educational fund.
