OBIT-CurranSOUTHWEST HARBOR and BAR HARBOR — Our dear mother, after a long six year battle with complications from a brain hemorrhage, went to be with Bill, her beloved husband of 54 years. Katherine B. Curran, 77, passed Nov. 10, 2015, at the Sonogee Estates with her daughters by her side. She was the daughter of Julian and Julia (Kelley) Harper.

Kay attended Pemetic High School in Southwest Harbor and married her high school sweetheart, William H. Curran. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a hardworking person who in her younger years worked at the Southwest Harbor fish factory. Then, she was a teacher’s aide at the Tremont School, where she was loved by many. In her later years she did private duty homecare, where she was known for her fish chowder, great pies and loving care.

Kay is survived by three sons, William Curran, wife Trudy of Lamoine; Kevin Curran, wife Rhonda of Orlando, Fla.; Chester Curran, partner Ron Kopp of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters Deborah Grant, husband Greg; Melanie Sue Jackson, husband Ed, all of Bar Harbor; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother Carroll Harper, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her four sisters, Agnes Butler, Sophronia (Fronne) Campbell, Eva Goodwin and Francis Willey and one brother James Harper.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at the Seal Cove Cemetery, Seal Cove.
