Karen Ann McNamara, 52, died unexpectedly April 3, 2020, at her home in Bar Harbor. She was born Aug. 28, 1967, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Arthur Donald and Norah Christina (Brennan) McNamara.
She graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1985, University of New Hampshire Animal Science Pre-Med (Minor/Wildlife Biology) Class of 1992 and University of Virginia School of Nursing in 1997. Karen worked at University Hospital, Charlottesville, Va., Mass General Hospital, Boston, and V.A. Medical Center, West Roxbury, Mass.
Karen was a devoted lover of animals, particularly concerned over the welfare of cats and dogs. She enjoyed hiking, knitting and reading.
She is survived by her parents; brothers, Noel McNamara of Canton, Mass., and Brad McNamara; niece, Kennedie McNamara; nephew, Brady McNamara; and sister-in-law, Kristie McNamara, all of Rutland, Mass.; many cousins, aunts and uncles.
