Helen spent her working life in laundry service. For over 50 years she worked in a variety of places including, Elite Laundry Mat, the Summit House, Dave’s Laundry, and Bar Harbor Laundry. She enjoyed cooking and was known for feeding people.
Helen loved to have a full table. She enjoyed country music, doing word search puzzles and her three generations of grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her son, Robert L. Jones and wife, Dixie, of Bar Harbor; a daughter, Betty Turner, of Holyoke, Mass.; three sisters, Iva Pettegrow of East Machias, Phoebe Stoddard of Holden and Beulah Axe and husband, David, of Jefferson, Texas; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy E. Farnsworth, in 1998; a son, Maurice Jones; a daughter, Eleanor Applebee; and four siblings, Bion, George, Myrtle and Emma.
Friends are invited to call 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
