Gilbert E. LeMoine passed away peacefully at the age of 67, March 27, 2021. He was born Nov. 12, 1953, in Rockland.
Gilley started lobster fishing at 8 years old with five traps in a punt. Then he purchased more traps and fished in a skiff. His first lobster boat was the F/V Why Not, a 25-foot boat. Then he purchased a 34-foot Duffy, F/V Shaun L. His love of the ocean included ground fishing, gillnetting, lobstering, halibut fishing and scalloping. Gilley had a knack for halibut fishing. He also did construction and wood clearing. Gilley loved visiting with family and having family dinners.
Gilley married the love of his life, Patricia Burns LeMoine, Oct. 20, 1973. They had two sons, Shaun LeMoine and Lucas LeMoine.
On March 31, 2018, Gilley fell overboard and drowned; Donna and Charlie Wiegle brought him back to life. He was LifeFlighted to Bangor, was in a coma and on life support. Due to the great support of the hospital staff, Gilley was able to come home and be with us for almost another three years. We called him the “Miracle Man.”
Gilley was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Beatrice LeMoine, a sister, Annette Tozier, a brother, Ricky K. LeMoine, and niece, Tracy LeMoine Butler, and his wife of 44 years, Patricia LeMoine.
He is survived by his son Shaun LeMoine; grandsons Logan and Dillon LeMoine and son Lucas LeMoine and Kristina Stanley; grandchildren Isabella and Kayden LeMoine; three brothers, Jeff LeMoine and partner Jane Ojala, Ronald LeMoine and Richard LeMoine Jr.; three sisters, Cindy Turner and husband, Gary, Helen Gardner and Donna McDonald; a nephew, Ricky LeMoine, and wife, Nancy; and two nieces, Mandy LeMoine and family and Colleen Tapley and family.
