George Robert Urbanneck



SOUTH PORTLANDGeorge Robert Urbanneck, a resident of South Portland, formerly of Bass Harbor, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Jan. 9, 1947.

A former employee of United Airlines, George earned an MS in Civil Engineering in 1990 from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, N.J.

George was married to Regina Ploucquet from 1989 until her death in 2010. Together they ran a bed and breakfast, West of Eden in Seal Cove.

Life is for the living, and George met Judi Murphy, and together they enjoyed a new life together. They settled in Judi’s home in South Portland.

George was an outdoorsman, sailor, cook and carpenter, lover of fine wine, good food and good company. He was a truly loving caregiver, husband, stepfather, grandfather, uncle and steadfast friend.

George is survived by his loving life partner, Judith Murphy, family members and beloved friends.

For all those who knew and loved George, please join us in a celebration of his life on Sunday, May 28, at 2 p.m. at Marge and Kevin Buck’s Island Watch located at 73 Freeman Ridge Road, Southwest Harbor. There, we can share stories, memories and anecdotes of George’s active life.
