BERNARD — Elizabeth May (Hamblen) Parsons, 93, passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2017. She was born May 16, 1924, in Bass Harbor, the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Pomroy) Hamblen.
Elizabeth, or “Dibby,” graduated from Pemetic High School in 1943. Affectionately known as “The Queen,” she married Allen Cleaves Parsons Sr. in 1948, and they settled in “Rich Town” to start their family. They ran Parsons Oceanfront Cottages together until Allen’s passing in 2009, when she took over with her daughter’s help.
Always creative, Elizabeth loved cake decorating, gardening and painting, and had an uncanny ability to capture life in her many paintings.
Elizabeth is survived by her son Allen Parsons Jr. of Bernard; her son Jeffrey Parsons of Bernard; her daughter Jennifer (Parsons) Pelletier of Bernard; her two brothers, Everett Hamblen and Richard Hamblen of Tremont; and many special nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family and close friends will gather to celebrate Elizabeth’s life on June 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at her residence. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Rich family cemetery, near her beloved ocean, and within walking distance of all her children. She will be dearly missed, and will live on in our hearts forever. Gifts in Elizabeth’s name may be made to Meals on Wheels.
