Edwin William (Bill) Robbins Jr. of Colonial Heights, Va., passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021. He was born on Nov. 18, 1937, in Bar Harbor, to the late Edwin Robbins Sr. and Flora Young. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Violet Young; wife, Faith McKay Robbins; son, Scott Robbins (Debbie); brother, Danny Robbins; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Robbins.
Mr. Robbins proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired as a senior chief sonar technician. He married his beloved wife Dec. 31, 1960. He went on to work and retire from GE Electric as a medical equipment technician. He enjoyed traveling during his early days, a great game of golf and a lobster dinner in retirement, being a member of the American Legion and having his friends and ever-growing family around.
Ed is survived by four sisters, Sally Vardamis, Abbie Savage, Mary Jane Piccirillo (Adam) and Penny Lyons (Jim); two brothers, Gary Robbins (Diana) and Fred Robbins; three children, Butch Robbins (Debbie), Deborah Slaughter (John) and Vicki Robbins; six grandchildren, Doug Slaughter (Melissa), Cindy Goshea (John), Carolyn Veizaga (Juan), Courtney Maurer (Jarred), Nikki Mapes and Allison Gainous (Jason); eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special acknowledgement of gratitude for his youngest daughter, Vicki Robbins, who cared endlessly for him in his final years.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
