He was an offshore scalloper for over 30 years. He loved being on the water, whether it was salt or fresh. He also loved riding his motorcycle. His biggest passion was being with his family, friends and all his puppies.
He is survived by his wife, Lorrie (Farrell) Murphy; his son Dustin and daughter Katrina; two brothers, Ernie of Southwest Harbor; Dean and partner Elizabeth of Eastbrook; and his best friend Richard Closson of Mount Desert. He was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the Legion Hall in Southwest Harbor on Oct. 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. There will be a benefit supper on Oct. 10, 2015, at the Common Good Café on Clark Point Road in Southwest Harbor from 2-6 p.m. with raffles.
In lieu of flowers, there is a Murphy family fund set up at The First to help with expenses. A private burial will be held at a later date.
