Dorothy “Martha” Steinhilber



DEER ISLE – Dorothy “Martha” Steinhilber, 86, died Oct. 17, 2016, in Deer Isle. She was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Trenton, the daughter of Ernest Kennedy and Dorothy (Young) Hopkins.

Martha had been a member of the St. Andrew Lutheran Church of Ellsworth, the Trenton Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 207 of Trenton.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Ralph “Randy” Palmer and wife, Michaele, of Southwest Harbor and Kenneth A. Palmer and wife, Janice, of Biddeford; daughter Cynthia Hopkins Dabrowski of Northeast Harbor; grandchildren, Mary Gonzales of Florida, Walter Dabrowski and Martha Orlansen, both of New Jersey, Katie Sharky and husband, James, of Kentucky; step-granddaughter Shelby of Topsham; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Scott and Ryan Olansen of New Jersey, Jade and Dylan Sharky of Kentucky. A brother, George M. Hopkins, and his children, Ernest Hopkins and Patti Billings of Trenton and great-nephew Benjamin Billings and wife, Genevieve, of Lamoine, nephew Robert Johnston and wife, Marty Anderson, and great-nephew John Robert “JD” Johnston.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Steinhilber, sister Alice Johnston and great-grandson Craig Palmer.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
