TRENTON – Dorothy DeWitt Young died at her home surrounded by family on Nov. 21, 2016, after a short illness due to complications from lung cancer. She was 78.
Dorothy “Dottie” Young was born July 17, 1938, to James Spafford and Evelyn Dunn DeWitt in Ellsworth. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1956. She married Ronald Leslie Young on Jan. 1, 1957. They moved to Trenton in 1959 where they built a home that she drafted for a class in high school.
Dottie is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Young of Trenton and Michelle Hanson and her husband, Rodney, of Franklin, grandsons Thomas “TJ” Hardison of Mariaville, John Reeves and girlfriend, Cait Kelley, of South Portland, granddaughter Haley Linscott and her boyfriend, Jason Westleigh, and great-grandson Nolan Westleigh, all of Trenton. Also her brother Jimmy DeWitt and wife, Carol, sister Judy Crossman, sister Teddy and husband, Perely Urquhart, sister-in-law Sandra DeWitt, all of Ellsworth, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald; sister Joan Sanborn; and brother Henry DeWitt. Dottie requested no funeral. She asked for her ashes to be spread on her birthday at one of her favorite places with many fond memories, the Urquhart Family camp in Trenton.
