Dolores J. Matthews, 87, of Hancock, passed away peacefully, with family present, on Nov. 29, 2019, at the Golden Acres Eastside Manor in Hancock. She grew up in Bar Harbor and was a survivor of the 1947 fire. Dolores was a devoted wife and loved her family unconditionally.
Some of her interests included singing, sewing, cooking, camping, reading, crossword puzzles, collecting sea glass, snowmen and cow figurines.
She is survived by her three children: Neil Johnson of Eastbrook, Melody Gooden of Milbridge and Steven Woodworth of Sullivan; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several extended family members and close friends. Dolores was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Arthur E. Matthews Jr., her parents, grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She will always be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Spring interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hancock.
